Last week, after discovering that Kay can get Annie to do things better than he can, Jake decides to enlist Kay to change little quirks about Annie for him. All seemed to be going well until Annie found out and then decided to enlist Kay on her team to give Jake a taste of his own medicine. Then he finds out, a hilarious fight ensues (like always, and all comes together in the end. This week we have guest stars Michaela Watkins (NEW GIRL, TROPHY WIFE) playing Annie's insane boss and Matt McConkey (IN THE MOMENT, MANSWERS) as Annie's "best boo." On this week's episode Jake's identity disappears and Gil gets a job!

Annie comes home late (4 am!) and it seems as though she's messed up another date night. Also, her pants are on inside out but she knew that and was just too lazy to change that. Jake is a little upset date night was cancelled again, but Annie says it's not her fault, her job is crazy right now. Jake has a pretty chell job. Yes, chell...that's a chill way of saying chill. Good thing Annie works to live and Jake lives to work, because together they "lurk to brive." Nice try, Jake!

Jake still wants to go on date night morning, but Janet keeps calling. First on Annie's cellphone and then the house phone, which Jake was a hipster cookie jar. Finally, Janet just shows up at their apartment. Enter Mikaela Watkins! She's like if Liz Lemon had a baby with Miranda Priestly. Janet ends up dragging Annie out the door to get back to work, while Jake is getting undressed thinking they are going to have some fun. Poor Jake comes out of the bathroom with everything showing and no one to show it to.

Jake and the gang are at the bar and none of his cards are approved. It seems as though Gil was going to step up and pay, but nope. Kay ends up covering the bill. It turns out that Brianna, Kay's ex girlfriend is a little crazy. It also turns out that someone stole Jake's identity. But crazy ex girlfriend to the rescue! Supposedly she's some super stealthy hacker.

Jake and Gil are playing GTA even though Jake should be at work. He says there's nothing to worry about. Great work ethic, Jake! Kay comes over to the apartment acting weird and asks if Jake's gotten his identity back. Turns out Kay's ex girlfriend stole his indentity! Kay tries to assure him that it's cool because she's just going to "take care" of his identity anyway. Jake isn't so sure but Kay said that she walked away and touched all over her fingers together and laughed maniacally...so yeah, she's up to something. Then Jake gets an email from his office saying that someone died at the company...on his floor...in his department...in his seat. Gil then gets an email saying a temp job just opened up. Hmm let's see what happens here.

Jake goes to his Human Resources person played by Matt McConkey that he's clearly alive but he doesn't quite believe him. He says there's nothing for him to do and that all the standard procedures are already set in place. Flowers being sent to his next of kin, small memorial at the next staff meeting, ya know all the good stuff. Jake thanks him for literally not helping at all and leaves. Meanwhile, Gil gets lead through office where he has decided to take Jake's old job. Jake then gets a call from Annie who asks him if he might've died. He said yes and that it's all been a big misunderstanding but she might get flowers from his office. We then see what she looks like and she's been crying. Oh cutaway humor! She gives Jake a note that this is something she should immediately tell her. That, and seeing Lamar Odom.

Janet storms around the office and tells Annie she did the project all wrong. Even though it's exactly what she wanted last night. But she was on Percocet. Janet then sees the flowers and thinks that Jake actually did die. She can't believe Annie is still there and tells her to go home and grieve. Annie then gets the idea to use this whole situation to her advantage and convinces Jake to stay dead for a while. They then push everything off a table to seemingly have sex on, but then get turned off by the idea. They do however go to a spa together, and just as things look like it's working out, Janet walks in and questions why Annie at home. She quickly makes up an excuse but Jake is already in the lobby naked looking for her. Janet gets confused, but Annie says that Jake is actually his own brother, Jazz. Janet believes them and even comes on to Jake.

Annie is really worried that Janet is going to find out about the lie, but Jake assures her that she's just going to "Percocet it and forget it." Gil walks in, wearing a suit, to discuss Jake's memorial at the staff meeting. Gil wants to make it really awesome to impress Hank. It seems that Gil knows a lot more people in the office than Jake ever did. Janet then shows up to the apartment and frazzles everyone. She's come to tell Annie that she and Jazz clearly had more chemistry, she's going to actively pursue Jazz (Jake). Gil then invites her to the memorial service at the office.

Jake shows up to the office memorial service as Jazz so he can check it out. Jake is impressed by how close Gil is with everyone. Janet yells for Annie to come sit with her but keeps Jake away from her. Kay and Dennah show up and it seems that they're pretty close with everyone in the office too! Gil is called to introduce his powerpoint for Jake, which is hilariously set to Mambo #5. Janet pressures Annie into speaking and she ends up quitting, which actually sets off a few other people quitting. Jake then comes clean and gives a lovely speech about how much he wants to be a part of the office team. The episode ends with Jake and Annie roleplaying, with Jake dressed in military fatigues as Jazz. They end up ruining it because they just aren't those kinds of people. Most importantly, Annie is starting her own business!
