Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a premier next generation global content leader, and Google Play are celebrating one of the most ground-breaking shows on television by partnering on The MAD MEN Experience, the two companies announced today. With anticipation building for the show's May 17th series finale on AMC, the companies are unveiling an immersive digital destination celebrating the four-time Emmy-winning drama and allowing fans to explore the seductive world of Don Draper and the ruthlessly competitive men and women of 1960s Madison Avenue.
The MAD MEN Experience starts at g.co/MadMen, an interactive, art exhibit-style website where the viewer is invited to relive magical moments from the series and take a deeper look at the show's characters, themes and historical timeline. Fans can see over 300 assets including rarely seen artwork, interviews with cast, audio commentaries and other features released for the first time in a digital environment including exclusive never-before-released content.
"Our partnership with Google Play reflects our continuing commitment to create and deliver cutting edge content that extends our brands for fans and newcomers alike to discover for years to come," said Lionsgate EVP of Marketing Anne Parducci. "The MAD MEN Experience transports a ground-breaking show to a new level by infusing its representation of 1960's Madison Avenue with state-of-the-art technology."
"Mad Men has captivated audiences and placed them squarely in the cocktail culture of mid-century Madison Avenue. As die-hard fans ourselves, we're excited to collaborate with Lionsgate to share this unique MAD MEN experience that gives everyone a chance to explore and interact with each season on Google Play long after the series concludes," said Jessica Igoe, Global Media and Content Partnership Marketing for Google Play.
Fans' love of the series went far beyond the television screen. As seen in this chart from Google Search Trends, MAD MEN has consistently maintained massive fan engagement throughout the years, a tremendous accomplishment after seven seasons.
Don Draper has also been the most popular character name search for every season with one exception. Peggy Olsen actually dominated as the most searched character on Google for season one with Don taking second place. Questions like "how can I dress like the characters in 'Mad Men?" and "what do they drink?" trended as some of the most Google-searched questions for the show and fans also wanted to mimic the hairstyles of their favorite MAD MEN characters. The top five most searched character hairstyles are, in descending order, Don Draper, Betty Francis, Joan Harris, Roger Sterling and Pete Campbell.
The journey continues as all seven seasons of MAD MEN are available from Lionsgate on Google Play and for a limited time, fans can watch the episode that started it all and watch Season One, episode one for free on Google Play.
The MAD MEN Experience site is available only in the US, UK, CA and AU.
