Lily Collins to Star in THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS

According to ComingSoon.com, actress Lily Collins is set to star in the Constantin Film and Unique Features movie THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS. The film, an adaptation of Cassandra Clare's #1 best-selling book series by the same name, will be directed by Harald Zwart.

The series' first book, "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," is set in contemporary New York City and follows the story of "a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray, who discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures." Collins will play the role of Clary in the film.

Producer Robert Kulzer commented, "Lily Collins is the perfect Clary. Harald Zwart really understands the visuals and heart of 'The Mortal Instruments.' That was crucial to us. Of course, having Cassandra Clare's support throughout and collaborating with her on this project has been especially rewarding."

Collins will soon be seen on the big screen in the upcoming film 'Mirror Mirror' starring Julia Roberts.
