As part of its ongoing Your Life. Your Time. Your Vote. campaign to create a national dialogue on women and politics, Lifetime Network is strengthening its on-air commitment with a star-studded PSA as the upcoming presidential election approaches. Eva Longoria, Condoleezza Rice and Jennifer Love Hewitt are among a group of high-profile women confirmed to participate, and it comes at a critical juncture. The United States currently ranks 90th in the world in women's elected representation and for the firsttime ever, women lost seats in Congress during the 2008 election cycle. Rounding out this extensive campaign (formerly known as Every Woman Counts), Lifetime is spearheading a nonpartisan opinion poll of 1,000 women nationwide, hosting late-night celebrations at both conventions and conducting a nationwide sweepstakes to win fun, interactive election night party boxes.
Throughout the remaining 2012 election season, elements of Your Life. Your Time. Your Vote. efforts include:
Celebrity PSA
A star-studded PSA is slated to premiere at the Republican and Democratic convention celebrations and hit the airwaves in September. Participating Lifetime celebrities include: Loretta Devine (The Client List), Jennifer Love Hewitt (The Client List), Eva Longoria (Devious Maids), Susan Lucci (Devious Maids) and Cybill Shepherd (The Client List). Meghan McCain and Condoleezza Rice are also slated to appear in the PSA, which encourages women's involvement in politics - whether by running for office, speaking their minds or casting a ballot.
NationwideWomen's Poll
A crucial demographic in the upcoming election, women will voice their opinions in a survey conducted by Republican pollster Kellyanne Conway of the polling company, inc./WomanTrend and Democratic pollster Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners. The national survey of 1,000 women will dig deep across broad demographics to uncover women's attitudes about the upcoming election. Women will have the opportunity to give President Obama a letter grade, voice their thoughts about Mitt Romney, say whom they would vote for if the election were held tomorrow, their views on a potentiAl Hillary Clinton run for president in 2016 and express their opinions about both first lady Michelle Obama and Ann Romney. Full results of the poll are available upon request and a separate Lifetime release with a comprehensive report on poll findings will be released the week of August 27.
Late-Night Celebrations at Both Conventions
Lifetime is rolling out the red (and blue) carpet for late-night celebrations at both the Republican (Tampa) and Democratic (Charlotte) conventions. The parties will bring together celebrity hosts, stars and women elected officials to celebrate women who currently hold office and those who aspire to join their ranks. Both events are in partnership with Got Your 6, an organization that supports U.S. military veterans, and in Charlotte music will flow with Grammy?-nominated artist Flo Rida.
