Just a little over a month after cancellation, Lifetime has officially revived the once-dead DROP DEAD DIVA for a fifth season.

As BWW TV previously reported, the network was incapable of sustaining the high production costs on the show, and were afraid it tonally didn't match the new direction Lifetime was taking. Now, Sony Pictures TV has reportedly structured a new financial model for the series, and Lifetime's back on board, according to Deadline.

Since the news broke of its cancellation, DROP DEAD DIVA's dedicated fanbase took up digital arms, creating online campaigns for Lifetime to give the series another shot. It appears, at least to some degree, to have worked.

DROP DEAD DIVA isn't the only show that was recently revived by its network: AMC also ordered a third season for THE KILLING after it was believed to be officially over.

As of now, a production start date has not been announced by the network.

The one-hour, comedic drama tells the story of a shallow wannabe model who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, plus-size and recently deceased attorney, Jane.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, "Drop Dead Diva" features breakout star Brooke Elliott ("Wicked," "Taboo"), Margaret Cho ("Dancing with the Stars," "Notorious C.H.O."), Jackson Hurst ("Living Proof"), Kate Levering ("Cashmere Mafia"), April Bowlby ("Two and a Half Men") and Josh Stamberg ("Lie to Me"). Carter MacIntyre ("Undercovers") and Lex Medlin ("Southland") join the ensemble cast as series regulars.
