LIKE SUNDAY, LIKE RAIN has lined up its all-star cast.

According to Deadline, GOSSIP GIRL's Leighton Meester is set to lead the indie drama from RAY DONOVAN's Frank Whaley, with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and Debra Messing attached to co-star.

The film follows a "struggling musician (Meester) who becomes the guardian of a 12-year-old music prodigy one summer." Armstrong will play Meester's boyfriend, with Messing cast as the boy's mother. Julian Shatkin and J Smith Cameron will also star.

The film is currently shooting in New York City.

Meester is best known for her role as Blair Waldorf on GOSSIP GIRL, which ran for six season on The CW. She has also appeared in such films as DATE NIGHT, THE ORANGES, THAT'S MY BOY, and THE ROOMMATE. She can next be seen in ANY TOM, DICK, OR HARRY and GOD ONLY KNOWS.

In 2010, Armstrong joined the cast of American Idiot, the stage adaptation of the Green Day album with the same name, for one week in the role of St. Jimmy. Armstrong returned to the role of St. Jimmy for 50 performances beginning January 1, 2011.

Messing, who will soon make her Broadway debut in OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, will return to Manhattan Theatre Club after starring in the theatre's 1997 New York premiere of Donald Margulies' Collected Stories opposite Maria Tucci. She also appeared in Paul Rudnick's 1994 playThe Naked Truth. Messing rose to fame as Grace Adler in NBC's "Will and Grace" for which she received an Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. She has also starred in "The Starter Wife" and "Smash" and has received a total of six Emmy and eight Golden Globe Award nominations.
