Cast and crew began production on the
FOX musical drama's fifth season following the tragic death of series star
Cory Monteith. The 31-year-old actor was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13th as a result of an accidental drug overdose. It was originally reported that filming on the new season would not resume until August 5th.
This is the second time in recent days that Michele tweeted upbeat news to her 3.5 million followers in the aftermath of the loss of her boyfriend of one year. On July 31, the actress wrote, "Spending the day surrounded by great friends.. Hope you all are having a good day.. Sending lots of love to you all.."
She also thanked her many fans for their unending support, posting on July 29: "Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support," the star tweeted to her 3.5 million+ followers July 29. "Cory will forever be in my heart."
Yesterday,
BWW reported that
FOX entertainment chairman
Kevin Reilly revealed that Monteith's character, Finn Hudson, would be written out of the series in the season's third episode. No details were given as to whether the character will be killed off in the storyline.
"Cory's character will be written off and [it] will deal directly with drug addiction and the circumstances surrounding Cory's death," Reilly said, adding that the cast and creators of the series will film public service announcements related to drug addiction.
