Radaronline reports exclusively that Glee creator and co-writer Ryan Murphy is currently developing a spinoff series of the FOX musical dramedy which will be centered on Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry.
An inside source revealed to the site, "This will be announced soon," adding, "They're making the deals now and it also presents a viable Exit plan for the main Glee series itself - in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging."
Murphy recently announced that next year's sixth season will be the final curtain call for the series, which this year has been forced to struggle with the loss of one of its core characters, Finn Hudson, portrayed by late actor Cory Monteith. Murphy also shared that Monteith's tragic and unexpected death has forced him to rethink his plan for ending the show, now in its fifth season.
Michele's character, Rachel is currently living in New York City, attempting to live her dream of becoming a Broadway star. Along for the ride is Chris Colfer's Kurt and Naya Rivera's Santana. No further details on the possible spinoff series have been revealed.
