Late Night Roundup: Hosts Address Tragedy in Las Vegas: 'Doing Nothing is Cowardice'

Yesterday morning, Americans woke up to the horrific news of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history that occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada Sunday evening. During a concert featuring country music singers, the gunman shot down 59 innocent people an injured close to 500 others. On the late-night talk show circuit, the hosts grappled with how to address the devastating incident, with most calling for stricter laws on gun control.

After the tragedy in Jimmy Kimmel's hometown of Las Vegas, the host sent love to everyone affected, and talked about the major gun violence problem we have in this country, calling out the senators who are in the pocket of the NRA, and asking for common sense and action from our elected officials to ensure that something like this doesn't happen again.

On THE DAILY SHOW, host Trevor Noah asked "When is the time (to talk about guns)? If you say after a mass shooting is never the time, then you'll never have the conversation in America because there's a mass shooting almost every single day."

Addressing the tragedy on LATE NIGHT, host Seth Meyers commented "We've talked about gun violence on this show before. I also know nothing I say will make any difference at all. But to Congress I would like to say: Are there no steps we can take as a nation to prevent gun violence? Or is this just how it is and how it's going to continue to be?"

On LATE SHOW, Stephen Colbert commended the victims and first responders of the tragic Las Vegas shooting for their immeasurable courage and explained that now we need courage from the President of the United States. Addressing President Trump he declared, 'Doing Nothing Is Cowardice.'

On last night's LATE LATE SHOW, after learning the news of a mass shooting in Las Vegas, the deadliest in United States history, James wondered what is keeping America from taking actual steps towards gun control and catching up with the rest of the developed world.

On CONAN, host CONAN O'Brien reflected on how often he's had to respond to mass shootings in the last decade. Later, music guest Grouplove gave a heartfelt message from to the city of Las Vegas.
