Netflix and producer Warner Horizon are still in negotiations, but if the deal goes through, the new season is aiming to start filming in March 2015.
Amazon was also one of Warner Horizon's first choices when LONGMIRE started its search for a new home, but Netflix already has the rights to LONGMIRE's previous seasons, which makes it the obvious frontrunner.
Before its cancellation, LONGMIRE was A&E network's most-watched drama. Based on the Walt Longmire Mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, the series is set in Absaroka County, Wyoming, and follows reluctant hero Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor).
LONGMIRE is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Horizon Television. Greer Shephard ("The Closer," "Nip/Tuck"), Michael M. Robin ("The Closer," "Nip/Tuck"), Hunt Baldwin ("The Closer," "Trust Me") and John Coveny ("The Closer," "Trust Me") serve as executive producers.
