announced "LIVE's" sixth annual "Top Teacher Week," which recognizes standout educators from across the nation. From May 4-8, 2015, "LIVE" will honor teachers who go above and beyond for their schools, communities and students.
Nominations can be made through "LIVE's" website or Facebook page. All teachers are eligible, from public or private schools and from Pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, and they may be nominated by individuals or groups. The deadline to apply is April 15. From this pool of applicants, four finalists will be chosen to travel to New York and be featured on "LIVE" from May 4-7. Following their appearances, viewers will have the chance to vote for their favorite, and on Friday, May 8, the educator who has received the most votes will be named this year's Top Teacher live on air.
Over the years, "LIVE" has honored a number of extremely talented teachers. Previous winners include Stacie Starr from Elyria High School in Elyria, Ohio (2014); Suzette Steward from Cinco Ranch Junior High in Katy, Texas (2013); Bryan Sawyer from Karigon Elementary School in Clifton Park, New York (2012); Penny Ellis from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, New York (2011); and "LIVE's" first Top Teacher winner, Donald Dye from Belmond-Klemme Junior/Senior High School in Belmond, Iowa (2010).
