The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the 2013 Golden Globes Awards this morning, live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Check out how the stars are reacting to their big honor below!
Jessica Chastain (nominated for Best Actress, Drama - Zero Dark Thirty) told USA Today: "I never got invited to my prom at my school, so I never had the opportunity to dress up when I was younger. Until the past couple of years. And now being able to go to the Golden Globes, it just means not only is it such a beautiful thing to be recognized for playing this incredible woman, Maya, now it's like, 'I get to wear pretty dresses again!'"
Les Miserables director Tom Hooper told USA Today by phone, "I'm so thrilled, and particularly for Hugh [Jackman] (nominated for Best Actor, Musical or Comedy) He's getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this morning, and yesterday he was beyond thrilled about the SAG nomination. And the great thing about Hugh is, there's no -- he doesn't feel like he's entitled to anything. (And) he was really such a great leader on this film, he carried the picture from the start."
Commenting on Les Mis star Anne Hathaway (nominated for Best Supporting Actress), Hooper said, "She was the best prepared, such a constant professional and gave everything for this role... She only told me the other day she practiced crying and singing in the mirror. She didn't want to be thrown. You can't sing on pitch and cry, it's bloody hard to do."
Nicole Kidman, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, The Paperboy and Best Actress Mini-Series or TV Movie, Hemingway & Gellhorn: "As an actor you look for roles that are rich, complicated, and that stretch you and this year I was blessed to find two. To have the chance to play them was a gift in itself and to then be acknowledged this way is icing on the cake. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press!"
Tim Burton, nominated for Best Animated Feature, Frankenweenie: "I'm thrilled to be recognized by the HFPA. Frankenweenie is a very personal project for me and the nomination goes as much to the animators who labored frame by frame to bring this film to life."
Clive Owen, nominated for Best Actor, Mini-Series or TV Movie, Hemingway & Gellhorn: "I'd like to say a big thank you to The Hollywood Foreign Press. I am really thrilled as this recognition is for a piece of work I'm very proud of and had such a good time on."
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA director, and 13-time Emmy nominee, Genndy Tartakovsky on his Golden Globe nomination for his theatrical feature debut: "Seeing the audience reaction was amazing on its own and now this, it's too much really. Just from everything that's happened so far i feel like we're being watched over by some great Animators in the skies and they have shined good fortune upon us. I know it's a bit dramatic but its awesome!!"
