Erik Löfgren and Magnus Backström today announce their Kickstarter campaign for Balder: Worlds at the Horizon, an original Science fiction/fantasy film project. With a background in commercial work, music videos and television and a mutual interest in Science fiction and fantasy, the Swedish filmmakers have created an intricate backstory and premise for their newest film project, influenced by Norse mythology characters and themes. The film aims to span 25-30 minutes upon completion and has a projected online release date of early 2018.

Balder is a sci-fi/fantasy Kickstarter film campaign based on Norse mythology coming from the region of origin, born out of a love of the genres. Löfgren and Backström's original motion picture incorporates fantastical creatures, spaceships, and magical elements into a fictional universe called Worlds at the Horizon, starring talented actor and muscle man Andreas Cahling as a leader of the Old Gods.

The story begins in a galaxy known as the Yggdrasil, featuring Space VIKINGS in a mythological setting. Balder, son of Odin, is forced into an epic adventure when he is suddenly abducted and sentenced to death by the Coalition. He has to break free and find his hammer, Mjolnir, before it's too late. The action-packed motion picture content is enhanced with 3-Dimensional assets, costumes and technology inspired by films and games such as Star Wars and The Legend of Zelda.

"Balder might just be the most interesting character in Norse mythology and perfect for an epic adventure to distant worlds featuring Vikings, creatures and magic, offering a new angle on a familiar theme," says Backström.

Funds raised through the Kickstarter campaign will go directly to people working in production and post-production, along with props, sound and visual equipment, as well as 3-Dimensional prints. A portion will also be used to create backer rewards, such as posters, t-shirts and extra materials for the Blu-Ray and DVD. Should the campaign exceed its funding goal, Löfgren and Backström plan to lengthen their film.

About Erik Löfgren and Magnus Backström Working in the creative industries in old Viking land (Sweden) and having discussed a sci-fi/fantasy universe based on the mythological Yggdrasil for a decade, the creators started producing content using their own time and money with the help of some talented friends. One year later, all 3-D assets and music needed for an indie film project of this magnitude were complete and as a result a teaser trailer was produced.
