HGTV will make dreams come true for the lucky winner of its HGTV Dream Home 2013, a custom-built, fully-furnished home on Kiawah Island, 21 miles from historic Charleston, S.C. Located alongside tranquil tidal marshland and pristine beaches in Indigo Park, the island's first sustainable neighborhood, the 17th annual HGTV Dream Home is part of a grand prize package that will be awarded in March 2013. The official HGTV Dream Home Giveaway® entry period will open in December 2012, but until then information about the home's location will be available at Dream Home central on HGTV.com/dreamhome.
"This year's HGTV Dream Home is the epitome of coastal living at its best," said HGTV Professional Home Planner Jack Thomasson. "Our partners are meticulous stewards of the environment and recognize that building a spectacular HGTV Dream Home can co-exist with preserving the beauty and unique attributes of Kiawah Island."
The HGTV Dream Home 2013, designed to exist in harmony with its environment while maintaining a contemporary flair, will feature an earth-friendly "Low Country Zen" architectural style. The three-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot home includes a double-height great room, a large gourmet kitchen with an adjacent pantry and laundry room, a central dining area and a multi-purpose loft space overlooking the great room. It also has two stories and is built on pilings that elevate the main level 12 feet from the ground. Unique architectural elements include solid beam trusses, heavy timber exterior supports with exposed custom steel connections, a spacious rear deck with a plunge pool and carefully placed windows for generous views of the serene tidal marsh grasses and waterways that lead to the Atlantic Ocean.
Kiawah can be explored easily by bike, boat or kayak. In addition to appreciating the tranquility of nature, residents can also enjoy the comforts of luxury island living. Kiawah Island also has many options for dining, shopping, golfing and spas.
