Though she's a stage and film regular, Kerry Washington has never starred in a TV series - until now. The 34-year-old, who in 2010 starred in Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls" film and in David Mamet's play Race, will shoot a pilot for Shonda Rhimes's upcoming show tentatively titled "In Crisis".

Washington will play a crisis management consultant who is, according to Deadline.com, "described as something of a legend, a formidable, driven, insightful, intuitive and fearless woman."

Shonda Rhimes has been the driving force behind such popular successes as Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. She also wrote the script for The Princess Diaries 2, which starred stage legend Julie Andrews.

In addition to her stage credits, winner of "Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture" for Ray at the 2005 NAACP Image Awards and Nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for "Best Actress" in the film Lift in 2002, Kerry Washington has garnered critical acclaim for her recent roles in The Last King of Scotland opposite Forest Whitaker for which she was nominated for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture" at the NAACP Image Awards in 2007, The Dead Girl opposite Marcia Gay Harden and Brittany Murphy, and in Lakeview Terrace starring opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Patrick Wilson.
