Director and writer Kelly Fyffe-Marshall's powerful short drama, "Haven", will receive its North American premiere on March 10th at SXSW Film Festival, and stars Tika Simone and talented young actress, D'evina Chatrie.
Passionate about writing impactful stories, Kelly Fyffe-Marshall began her career in theatre before turning her hand to directing. Her expansive work covers music videos, web series, short films, feature films and television series. Her credits include four music videos for Our Lady Peace, the series Virgins! and web series Friends with Benefits. Her experience has seen her invited onto the jury for the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, and in the role of jury head for North America's longest running film festival, the Yorkton Film Festival. Kelly currently has three short films in development - He's One of Us, Marathon, and A Jamaican Good Bye, and is in pre-production for her upcoming web series, Parea.
Continuing the all female line up is Producer, Tamar Bird, an award winning Canadian filmmaker. After starting her career as an actor, she eventually moved into writing, directing and production and found great success with her 2014 short film, The Night Session. Her collaboration on HAVEN further ignited her passion to produce more stories about women of color.
Tika Simone is an artist, actor, DJ, cultural producer, TV/Online personality, activist and advocate for the empowerment of female artists and creators. She brings her immense talent to the role of Janice.
D'evina Chatrie proves that she's a face to watch in the challenging role of daughter, Jada. Relatively new to the acting world, D'evina's partnership with Kelly Fyffe-Marshall has seen her also appearing in Our Lady Peace's music video, Falling into Place, and is further evidence that she is a young talent on the rise.
Jordan Oram is the films incredible cinematographer; his recent work includes Drake's God's Plan music video.
'Haven' screens at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival on March 10th, 12th and 15th.
