Could Katy Perry be the first on-camera star to sign onto the AMERICAN IDOL reboot?
Though ABC has yet to confirm the rumor, sources for The Hollywood Reporter and TMZ believe that the network will reveal the news at the upfronts this week. Although very likely, it has still not been fully confirmed if Ryan Seacrest will host the reboot.
TMZ reminds readers that the main reason IDOL went off the air was due to high costs, and ABC will surely not make the same mistake. With the two high-profiles of Perry and Seacrest, the remaining two judges can't break the network's bank. Another name has also surfaced to possibly serve as judge - season one winner Kelly Clarkson.
Perry recently served as a judge on the UK version of X FACTOR, but AMERICAN IDOL would truly be her first taste of television.
To date, "American Idol" has earned 67 Emmy nominations and nine wins, including the prestigious Governors Award in 2016, and its talented discoveries have already won 14 Grammys, two Golden Globes and an Academy Award, among numerous other accolades.
