Stage and screen star Kathy Najimy will soon join the gals on Wisteria Lane in an upcoming episode of Desperate Housewives, according to TVGuide.  Najimy will play a police officer investigating an attack in the now famous neighborhood in the episode, which is scheduled to air in October.

According to executive producer Marc Cherry, the episode's plot becomes complicated by the twist that Najimy's character and Teri Hatcher's Susan went to high school together, during which Susan stole her boyfriend.

Najimy's stage credits include the Off-Broadway The Kathy and Mo Show, Parallel Lives and Dirty Blonde. On screen she's been seen in movies such as Sister Act, Jeffrey, The Wedding Planner, and Soapdish. In addition she's the voice of Peggy Hill on the animated show King of the Hill and appeared alongside Kirstie Alley in Veronica's Closet.
