Tribune Broadcasting today announced the appointment of Katherine Green to Senior Vice President of News. Green will be responsible for overseeing all news production and news operations for Tribune Broadcasting's 42 owned or operated stations. She will begin her new duties on May 5 and report to Larry Wert, Tribune's President of Broadcast Media.

Prior to joining Tribune, Green spent 6 years at CNN Worldwide where she was most recently SVP/Managing Editor of HLN, responsible for the programming, operation and editorial direction of the network. During her time at HLN, the network experienced some significant ratings successes. Prior to her position at HLN, Green was SVP/GM of CNN International, when CNN generated record survey ratings and won the highly coveted RTS News Channel of the Year award. During her tenure at CNN, she oversaw the launch of nearly two dozen new programs.

"Katherine is a visionary leader whose background in local broadcasting and news programming will bring value to our station's broadcast and digital newsrooms," said Wert.

With more than 30 years of experience in television production, Green earlier served as VP/News Director at WTTG-TV in Washington, DC with the station winning over 100 Emmy Awards during her tenure. She has also held executive level and producer positions at WFLA-TV in Tampa, WNBC-TV and WABC-TV in New York and WTVJ-TV in Miami. Green began her career as a police reporter at WTLV-TV in Jacksonville, Florida.

"Tribune is one of the largest broadcasting companies in America, with a legacy of championing the public's need for information. This is a rare and unique opportunity to simultaneously preserve and evolve that legacy for generations to come," said Green.
