KCET, the nation's largest independent public television station, announced today that season eight of VERA will premiere on KCET in June. Multi-award-winning Brenda Blethyn returns as the unorthodox but brilliant DCI
Vera Stanhope, investigating more chilling crimes that only she can solve. Based on the bestselling Inspector Stanhope novels by Ann Cleeves, Vera and her team are drawn into more compelling cases that take her from violent car crashes to buried secrets.
VERA season eight will premiere Wed., June 13 at 9 p.m. on KCET in Southern California.

Upcoming VERA episodes in June will telecast as follows (*lineup subject to change):

"Blood and Bone" - Wed., June 13 at 9 p.m.
Vera is called to a chilling murder scene when the charred remains of a body are discovered. With limited forensic evidence, she is disturbed to identify the body as a respected police officer.

"Black Ice" - Wed., June 20 at 9 p.m.
Vera is called to the scene of a violent car crash. With her typically sharp skills of observation, she quickly realizes that the crash was not accidental and that another driver tried to kill the victim.

"Home" - Wed., June 27 at 9 p.m.
Quiet life in suburbia takes a dark turn when a woman is discovered murdered. When Vera discovers that THE NEIGHBORS aren't all that they seem, buried SECRETS must be unearthed in order to catch the killer.

*KCET is expected to merge with PBS SoCal, subject to regulatory approvals, by mid-2018.
