Jude Law Set to Star in Black Comedy DOM HEMINGWAY

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony nominee Jude Law is set to star in Richard Shepard's upcoming black comedy DOM HEMINGWAY. The actor will join previously announced cast member Richard E. Grant on the project which is written and directed by Shepard.

Law will portray the title role of Dom Hemingway, described as a "larger-than-life safecracker with a loose fuse who is also funny, profane and dangerous. Back on the streets of London after 12 years in prison, it's time to collect what he's owed for keeping his mouth shut."

Oscar-winning producer Jeremy Thomas' Recorded Picture Company will produce the film which is set to begin shooting this fall. Said Thomas, "I so enjoyed Richard Shepard's film 'The Matador', and when I read this script and thought of the film, I was excited. Richard has a special gift between comedy and drama, and we have wonderful actors to inhabit the film."

Christine Langan, BBC Films chief commented, "The wicked humor and great energy of Richard's script and a superb cast make this a wildly entertaining prospect and we're very excited to be on board."

Writer Shepard shared that he has been a long time fan of Thomas' films, "It's crazy how many of Jeremy Thomas' films I actually owned on DVD before ever meeting him: From Sexy Beast to Stealing Beauty to A Dangerous Method. He's clearly got great taste in story, a wicked sense of humor and keen insights in what makes a film unique and memorable."

Jude Law received a Tony nomination in 2010 for his title role performance in Hamlet. The actor has earned Academy Awards nominations for his films The Talented Mr. Ripley and Cold Mountain. His other film credits include Sherlock Holmes, The Aviator,The Holiday, and Breaking and Entering.
