Actor Judd Nelson will be the guest of honor and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Iowa Independent Film Festival on Saturday, October 26 at the Frank Lloyd Wright Hotel in Mason City, Iowa.

Conceived in 2007 by Iowa native, actress Tanna Frederick, and renowned independent filmmaker Henry Jaglom, the Iowa Independent Film Festival enjoys the support of the Mason City Foundation, who own and operate The Music Man Square and whose mission is "to cultivate and support efforts to enrich the cultural environment of the community."

"We are deeply honored to have Judd Nelson at our 7 th Annual Iowa Independent Film Festival," said Ms. Frederick, who starred with Nelson in Henry Jaglom's independent film "Just 45 Minutes From Broadway." "Judd's talent and body of work truly exemplify the independent spirit we have celebrated since we first launched in 2007," she adds.

Nelson made his film debut in 1984 as Eddie Keaton in "Making the Grade," but it was his portrayal of a tough teen in 1985's "The Breakfast Club" which catapulted him to stardom. He followed the box office smash with such films as "St. Elmo's Fire," "New Jack City," "Light It Up," "Cabin by the Lake," and "The Black Hole." His television credits include starring in the hit comedy series "Suddenly Susan," opposite Brooke Shields and guest starring roles in such hits as "Two and a Half Men," "CSI," "Psych," and "The Neighbors."

Nelson joins the likes of Peter Bogdanovich, Randall Kleiser, Charlie Matthau, David Proval, Mark Reidel and the late Karen Black in accepting the Iowa Independent Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award.
