Netflix, the world's leading Internet entertainment service, began principal photography last week on its third announced Colombian original series, Distrito Salvaje. Created by Cristian Conti (7 Años, La Cara Oculta) and starring Juan Pablo Raba (Narcos, 7 Años, Los 33, Six); Cristina Umaña (Narcos, Sala de Urgencias, Todos Quieren con Marylin, Yo Amo a Paquita Gallego) and Camila Sodi (Luis Miguel La Serie, Señorita Pólvora, Camino A Marte), the 10-episode series will be available to Netflix members in the Americas in 2018.
Distrito Salvaje follows Jhon Jeiver (Juan Pablo Raba), a lethal guerrilla fighter who escapes the jungle after the signing of the Colombian Peace Agreements. He arrives in Bogotá escaping from his past, and tries to reinsert himself in society while looking to reconnect with his long lost family. But he soon finds himself wrapped in a web of crime and corruption, struggling to understand the ways of the concrete jungle, protect his family from his past, and faced with the moral dilemma of choosing what side of the law he wants to be on.
The rest of the cast includes Carolina Acevedo (La Ley del Corazón, Francisco el Matemático, Pobre Pablo), Alina Lozano (Pedro el Escamoso), Juan Fernando Sánchez (Correo de Inocentes), Cristian Tappan (Narcos, Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal, El Señor de los Cielos) and Juan Sebastian Calero (Narcos, Sin Senos Si Hay Para'so), among other Colombian talent.
Filmed entirely in Colombia and produced by Dynamo for Netflix, Distrito Salvaje is created by Cristian Conti, directed by Javier Fuentes-León and Carlos Moreno, and written by Cristian Conti, Javier Gullón, Javier Fuentes-León and Mauricio Leyva. Cristian Conti, Andrés Calderón, Juan Pablo Raba, Javier Fuentes-León and Javier Gullón serve as Executive Producers.
