Jorge Perez-Navarro Joins ESPN Deportes as Play-by-Play Commentator

On Monday, October 17, Jorge Pérez-Navarro joins ESPN Deportes, as play-by-play commentator for a variety of soccer events, on ESPN DEPORTES Radio and ESPN DEPORTES TV, making regular appearances on Jorge Ramos y Su Banda. In addition, Pérez-Navarro will contribute to ESPNDeportes.com. He makes his debut on Monday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. ET during Jorge Ramos y Su Banda.

Pérez-Navarro brings vast experience, knowledge and versatility having covered a wide variety of sports events including four FIFA World Cups, five Copa América championships, nine Copa MX tournaments and several CONCACAF qualifiers. He has also covered 10 MLS seasons, and friendlies and international qualifiers for Team USA's, men and women's division, which earned him the title of "The Spanish Voice of Soccer of the United States". In addition to soccer, Perez-Navarro has covered eight NFL Super Bowls, called NCAA BASKETBALL games, MLB spring training games, boxing matches and UFC fights.

Prior to joining ESPN Deportes, Pérez-Navarro began his on-air career at Núcleo Radio Guadalajara where he served as program director for on-air talent and later for MVS Radio. While in Texas, he served as play-by-play commentator for KINT-TV Channel 26 (Entravision). In 2000, Pérez-Navarro transitioned to Univision Communications, in Miami, serving as co-host for Univision's sports news program, CONTACTO DEPORTIVO for more than a decade. Most recently he provided play-by-play commentary for NBC Universal.

Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Pérez-Navarro lived most of his life in western Mexico before moving to El Paso, Texas and later settling in Miami, Fl.
