In conjunction with TOMBOY, NBC Sports Regional Networks' multi-platform documentary project, six CSN markets will host symposiums with colleges in order to examine and fuel conversation around gender balance in today's evolving sports landscape. NBC Sports Regional Networks announced last week the launch of TOMBOY, the first-of-its-kind integrated initiative that aims to elevate the conversation about female participation in sports, culminating with a one-hour documentary.
Starting tomorrow, Friday, February 24, the CSNs will host symposiums featuring female executives from pro sports franchises (Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Oakland A's, San Jose Sharks, San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia 76ers); speakers from institutes of higher learning (Harvard, UPenn, DePaul, Boston College, George Washington University, Temple and Drexel); women from top media outlets (Washington Post, Associated Press and San Francisco Chronicle); as well as the Women's Sports Foundation, a charitable, educational organization dedicated to promoting girls and women in sports and fitness.
The TOMBOY symposiums supplement the podcasts, articles, and interviews released each weekday with the world's most prominent female athletes, broadcasters and sports executives. Some of the strong female voices featured throughout the multi-platform project include former UFC Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate, who shares her views about confidence and beauty, and U.S. Ski Team Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, who discusses living without fear.
