DanceOn, the leading YouTube dance video network that was co-founded by Madonna, has partnered with producer John Legend and his upcoming internet generation dance film "Breaking Through" to identify talented dancers to perform in Legend's new film. Writer and director John Swetnam ("Step Up All In") joined executive producer John Legend to announce an official online casting call with DanceOn where hopefuls can submit their audition videos for the chance to perform at a live event in Los Angeles or have their performance video selected to be featured in the film. On August 29, Swetnam will be directing a live event scene for the film at the Los Angeles Convention Center that will feature dancers who have submitted their personal YouTube audition videos via the DanceOn website. Additional "Breaking Through" scenes will also be filmed that day as part of the DanceOn Spotlight: The Ultimate Dance Experience Event which includes performances by Beyonce dancers Les Twin and Emilio Dosal from "So You Think You Can Dance," and more than a dozen YouTube dance stars.
"We partnered with DanceOn because this movie is all about dancing and YouTube and we want you to be a part of it," Legend said, encouraging applicants to make a video that showcases their best dance moves for the opportunity to be a part of an amazing dance event that that will be featured in the movie. "DanceOn and 'Breaking Through' are bringing together the most talented dancers, creators and choreographers and we want you to be there too...Everyone who submits gets an opportunity to be in the film. So get out there, grab your camera and get to work!" he added.
