John Boyega is in talks to star in "A Naked Singularity" with Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions on board to produce, according to Variety.
The legal drama is based on Sergio De La Pava's debut novel, which centers on a successful New York public defender whose life begins to unravel after he loses his first case.
The book was self-published by Attorney De La Pava in 2008 and in 2012 it was re-published and went on to win the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction.
One of the co-writers of the screenplay for "It", Chase Palmer is on board to direct from a script by David Matthews. 3311 Productions is financing the film and Scott Free and Tony Ganz are producing.
Boyega is best known for his breakout role as Finn in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." He reprised his role in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," and will be seen in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode IX." His other work includes "Detroit," "Pacific Rim: Uprising," and the upcoming Netflix mini-series "Watership Down."
