Universal Pictures has tapped Joe Roth (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) to produce their upcoming film adaptation of the hit young-adult novel DAUGHTER OF SMOKE & BONE, the studio announced today.
"In Daughter Of Smoke & Bone, Laini Taylor masterfully tells a story of identity and destiny that welcomes readers into a fantastical world with a unique mythology," Roth said in a statement. "It is very different than anything we've seen before and I look forward to bringing the fascinating characters to the big screen."
SMOKE & BONE, written by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, is described by the publisher as:
"Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low."I am a huge fan of his big, gorgeous fantasy epics with powerful female characters," author Taylor said. "I can't wait to see how he'll bring my world to life on film. He's the dream producer for this property, and I couldn't be happier."
No cast is yet attached to the project - though the studio seems to be fast-tracking it by recruiting Roth. BWW Movies World will keep you updated as the adaptation of SMOKE & BONE develops.
