FOX Television Group Chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden announced today that they have promoted Joe Earley to Chief Operating Officer for FOX Television Group (FTG) and appointed David Madden President of Entertainment for FOX Broadcasting Company (FOX).
Earley will report to Walden and Newman, joining them in the executive suite of the newly-formed television group, and will be charged with maximizing opportunities for the portfolio of shows produced by 20th Century
FOX Television for FOX. In his new role, Earley will partner with the studio's development, production, business affairs, marketing and finance leads on strategic initiatives, and will oversee the development of international co-productions, as well as publicity and talent relations at the studio. He will also continue to have direct oversight of marketing and communications, digital, multi-platform programming, research, talent relations, scheduling and audience strategy at the network.

As President of Entertainment for FOX, Madden will assume responsibility for scripted programming and development, alternative entertainment and casting at the network. He will also report to Newman and Walden.

Both Earley and Madden will transition into their new roles immediately. A replacement for Madden at FTVS will be named soon.
Previously, Earley served as Chief Operating Officer for
FOX Broadcasting Company, where he played a key management role in all areas of the network. During his tenure at FOX, Earley drove the strategy behind the successful launches of hit shows, including SLEEPY HOLLOW, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, THE FOLLOWING,
New Girl and GLEE, as well as
FOX favorites such as AMERICAN IDOL, THE SIMPSONS, "House," "Fringe" and "24."
Earley has risen through the executive ranks over his 20 years at FOX, holding positions including President of Marketing & Communications and Executive
Vice President of Publicity, Corporate Communications and Creative Services. He joined the network in 1994 as a Senior Publicist after spending several years in Media Relations at HBO, and began his entertainment career in production and development with producer Gale Anne Hurd.
David Madden joins the
FOX network from
FOX Television Studios, where as President, he oversaw all of the studio's scripted and unscripted programming, as well as FTVS' finance, operations and marketing divisions. In that role, he shepherded critically lauded hits, such as "The Americans," "The Killing," "White Collar" and "Graceland," as well as "Complications," which will have its series debut first quarter of 2015. He also oversaw upcoming comedies "The Comedians," starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad; and "Sex&Drugs&RockandRoll," starring Denis Leary. Previous acclaimed series for which Madden has been responsible include "Burn Notice," "The Glades," "Saving Grace," "The Riches" and "The Shield," while his alternative programming slate has included "The Girls Next Door," "The Great Escape" and the late-night "Talkshow with
SPIKE Feresten." Under Madden,
FOX Television Studios also produced original movies for television, such as "Drumline 2," "Prosecuting Casey Anthony" and "Home Alone: The Holiday Heist."
Prior to joining FTVS, Madden was a producer and partner with the Paramount Pictures-based Cort/Madden Company, with more than 20 films to his credit. His most recent production, "Something the Lord Made," starring Alan Rickman and Mos Def, won the 2004 Emmy Award for Outstanding Made for Television Movie and the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television. Madden also produced "Save the Last Dance," starring Julia Stiles, which grossed more than $90 million domestically and sold three million soundtrack units. The Cort/Madden Company also developed a series version for FOX. Before Paramount, Madden held roles as a producer and partner with Interscope Communications and
Vice President of Production at Twentieth Century Fox. Madden has also served as a feature writer and director.
