According to TVGuide.com, the new ABC Family Channel series, 'Melissa and Joey' will premiere on Tuesday, August 17 and 8 pM. Starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, ten episodes have been ordered for the series. 'Melissa and Joey' stars Lawrence as a nanny working for a female politician (Hart) forced to take care of her sister's two kids.
Known for her starring roles in "Clarissa Explains It All" and "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," Melissa Joan Hart began her career at age 4 with commercials and various TV appearances. She starred in the film Drive Me Crazy alongside "Entourage's" Adrian Grenier as well as the ABC Family Original Movie Holiday in Handcuffs, which was the highest rated program in the history of the network. In 1993 Hart started her own Production Company, Hartbreak Films, and is releasing her first thriller film Nine Dead to DVD in 2010. She was recently featured as a contestant in the ninth season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." Hart and husband Mark Wilkerson are parents of two sons, Mason and Braydon. Recently, Melissa Joan Hart joined the cast of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's smash-hit Off Broadway show, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, which has been playing to sold-out houses at The Westside Theatre (407 W 43rd Street). Hart was be a part of the star-studded cast (Lucy DeVito, Judy Gold, Shirley Knight, Jayne Houdyshell) from March 31st, 2010 through April 25th.
Joey Lawrence made his Broadway debut in 2007 as Billy Flynn in the smash musical Chicago, which plays the Ambassador Theatre. Lawrence began his career appearing on national TV commercials at age 3, caught the eye of Johnny Carson who put him on his late night 'Tonight Show.' His appearance on that show launched his television career and he was cast in his first regular series, "Gimme a Break," opposite Nell Carter. From there, he starred as Joey Russo on the NBC series "Blossom." Other TV appearances have included "Brotherly Love" and "American Dreams." Lawrence's film credits include Carl Reiner's Summer Rental, Chains of Gold, Radioland Murderers and Urban Legends as well as voicing the title character in the Disney film Oliver & Company. Along with his acting credits, he released the multi-platinum album "Joey Lawrence" in 1993, for which he embarked on a world tour. Audiences watched Lawrence dance their way into their living room on season 3 of the hit ABC "Dancing with the Stars," in which he placed second amongst all the contestants. In addition, he toured the U.S. and Canada in the show's national tour covering 42 cities in 8 weeks.
