The White House Correspondents' Association has announced that late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will serve as the host of this year's 98th AnnuAl White House Correspondents' Dinner, according to TV Guide.
In a statement to the press, Kimmel joked, "I look forward to being a part of the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. I love dinner."
WHCA's president, Caren Bohan explained that Kimmel was chosen as this year's host due to his "sophisticated and edgy" humor that has a wide appeal to audiences.
Jay Leno, Wanda Sykes, Stephen Colbert, Craig Ferguson, Conan O'Brien and most recently, Seth Meyers, have served as past hosts for the event.
The annuAl White House Correspondents' dinner raises money for scholarships for upcoming journalists. Celebrities, politicians and journalists all take part in the event which will take place on April 28, 2012.
