In celebration of its 90th anniversary as a Los Angeles hospitality and entertainment icon, The Hollywood Roosevelt hosted a private rooftop concert and filming with John Legend debuting "Penthouse Floor" on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live on December 13. Legend performed a mix of music including classics like "All of Me," followed by an after-party sponsored by Heineken.
"Since our very first event bookings in 1927, The Hollywood
Roosevelt has cultivated a reputation as being a gathering spot for exclusive premiere parties and soirees," said Sal Imposimato, Vice President of Brand Experience at Journal Hotels. "Ten years ago, rock god Prince played seven sold-out shows in the hotel's Blossom Ballroom so for our 90th anniversary wanted to showcase how the hotel has maintained its status as a modern Hollywood mainstay by having
John Legend sing and shout it from the rooftops."
For those fortunate enough to attend, the once-in-a-lifetime experience combined the euphoria of a stadium concert with the intimacy of a jazz lounge. The Hollywood Roosevelt's private rooftop deck is as historic as it is gorgeous. Located a few hundred feet above Hollywood Boulevard, this 750-square foot space regularly serves as the after party for many Academy Awards ceremonies and is the dream backdrop for a Hollywood wedding.
In addition to rounding out the year with a performance by Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe award-winning recording artist John Legend, The Hollywood
Roosevelt has enjoyed a year-long celebration of new programming and openings. Most recently, the hotel played host to the LA's first
Vulture Festival that was previously based in New York. The two-day event hosted red carpet events and panel discussions with today's top talent including Natalie Portman, Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis, Ted Danson, Issa Rae, cast members from
Stranger Things and more. In May, the hotel opened new private event space and rotating restaurant pop-up location called "The Rosy" that also serves as a late-night spot for hipster-meets-luxury seasonal wine varietals available by-the-glass and by-the-bottle.
