Jimmy Iovine Names Clear Channel Vet as Beat Music Curator

According to The Hollywood Reporter, music exec Jimmy Iovine has chosen Clear Channel veteran Julie Pilat to run curation for a new subscription service Beats Music. Pilat called the appointment, "the opportunity of a lifetime."

Among Pilat many responsibilities at her former employer Clear Channel was Alternative Brand Coordinator, program director for Los Angeles rock station KYSR (98.7 FM), assistant PD/music director for KIIS-FM and booker of the annual iHeartRadio concert. The executive, who will run music curation and artist development for the new service, says, "To change the path for the future of music is the opportunity of a lifetime ... I couldn't say no."

Pilat's official title will be head of curation and artist development. She will began her duties with the Santa Monica-based company yesterday.
