Jerry Springer to Host New Investigation Discovery Series TABLOID

Scandalous headlines. Surreal true-life stories. Who doesn't scan the supermarket tabloids in the checkout line? Investigation Discovery (ID) introduces TABLOID, a new weekly series guaranteed to satisfy inquiring minds. Hosted by the Emmy Award-winning king of tabloid television, Jerry Springer, TABLOID peels back the curtain to probe the most bizarre larger-than-life stories you can't possibly imagine. With an initial run of ten, one-hour episodes co-produced by Radley Studios and Espiritus Productions, TABLOID will premiere on ID in 1Q 2014.

"There really was no other choice for this series other than the king of daytime talk himself, Jerry Springer, to complement ID's incredible stories of revenge, betrayal and real-life drama," said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager, Investigation Discovery. "A credit to his overwhelming appeal to our largely female audience, Jerry's Syndicated series is in its 22nd season and still going strong. Springer, who's no stranger to the sensational, brings more than 20 years of experience working with over-the-top characters. Baring all of the twists and turns, and macabre motivations behind eye-catching headlines, TABLOID unearths the most mind-blowing, headlines in the supermarket tabloids, exposing the biggest stories of the day.

"The thing I like best about television is the opportunity to tell stories...stories that cover the entire range of human experiences and emotions," said Springer. "TABLOID gives me another chance to do just that, and I can't wait to get started."

TABLOID is produced for Investigation Discovery by Radley Studios and Espiritus Productions. BranDon Hill and Chad Itskowitz are executive producers for Radley Studios, and Bill Katz is executive producer for Espiritus Productions.
