SUPERGIRL has found its 'Lucy Lane'.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, WITCHES OF EAST END star Jenna Dewan-Tatum recur as the character on CBS's new action adventure drama series, starring GLEE's Melissa Benoist in the title role.
Based on characters from DC Comics, the series follows Kara Zor-El (Benoist), who comes to earth after escaping the destruction of Krypton. After many years hiding her abilities, she joins the ranks of her cousin Superman to become the hero she was meant to be.
Dewan-Tatum's character Lucy is Lois Lane's younger sister, described as "brash, funny and beautiful as her older sister," as well as "strong, smart and successful in her own right." She appears in the third episode "to right a previous wrong" having to do with Jimmy Olsen (played by Mehcad Brooks), one of Kara's love interests who works with her at CatCo, the media company headed by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart).
Dewan-Tatum joins a cast featuring Tony winner Laura Benanti and Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan, as well as two former superheroes -- one-time Superman Dean Cain and Helen Slater, star of the 1984 film SUPERGIRL. The ensemble also includes Chyler Leigh and David Harewood, with guest stars Peter Facinelli as billionaire Maxwell Lord, and Chris Browning as Ben Krull, aka Reactron.
Aside from WITCHES OF EAST END, Dewan-Tatum as appeared on TV in AMERICAN HORROR STORY and THE MINDY PROJECT.
SUPERGIRL premieres Monday, Oct. 26 (8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT). The series moves to its regular time period (8:00-9:00 PM) beginning Monday, Nov. 2nd.
