Jane The Virgin Star Ivonne Coll & More TV/Film Notables For Hero Theatre's Festival Irene

JANE THE VIRGIN star Ivonne Coll is amongst several television celebrities cast in Hero Theatre's Festival Irene: Celebrating the Legacy of María Irene Fornés.

Coll, known for her role as grandmother Alba Villanueva, will perform in Luis Alfaro's The Golden State Part One: Delano, one of many plays by Fornés' former students that will be included in the two week long benefit festival. Additional notable names that have been cast include Charlie Hofheimer (24:Legacy, Mad Men), Nick Tarabay (Castle, Spartacus), Brad Schmidt (Birth of a Nation) and Tala Ashe (American Odyssey, Smash).

Nick Tarabay will perform in Fornés' play The Conduct of Life, while Hofheimer and Ashe will perform together in Migdalia Cruz's Fur.

Additional casting will be released in the coming weeks for all of the festival productions, which includes works from famed Cuban-American playwright María Irene Fornés, and Award-winning Fornés students Pulitzer-winner Nilo Cruz, Lisa Loomer, Octavio Solis, Migdalia Cruz, Caridad Svich, Cherríe Moraga, Luis Alfaro, Eduardo Machado, Anne Garcia-Romero and Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas.

The roster of directors includes National Council on the Arts Member Diane Rodriguez, Latino Theater Company Artistic Director Jose Luis Valenzuela, Juliette Carrillo, Jose Cruz Gonzalez, Beth Lopes, Sylvia Blush, Yetta Gottesman and Hero Theatre Artistic Director, Elisa Bocanegra.

Festival Irene plays will be presented as readings and audience members will have a voice in selecting which one of Ms. Fornés' plays Hero Theatre will be presenting a full production of.

Proceeds for Festival Irene benefit a new medical fund established in honor of María Irene Fornés. Proceeds also benefit Alzheimer's research. The festival will take place March 31 through April 10, 2016 at the Rosenthal Theater at Inner-City Arts in Los Angeles.
