15-year-old actor James Freedson-Jackson won rave reviews and the Special Jury Recognition for Breakthrough Performance for his work in the film The Strange Ones, at the SXSW Film Awards in Austin, TX. on Tuesday (3/14). The thriller made its world premiere Saturday (3/11). It tells the story of two brothers [Freedson-Jackson and Alex Pettyfer] surrounded by mysterious events as they make their way across a remote American landscape. On the surface all seems normal, but what appears to be a simple vacation soon gives way to a dark and complex web of secrets.

ABOUT JAMES FREEDSON-JACKSON: Nurturing an impressive body of work that encompasses film and television, breakthrough actor James Freedson-Jackson is one of Hollywood's most promising young talents. Inspired by Michael Jackson, at a young age James grew a passion for dancing which led him to the world-renowned Alvin Ailey School pre-professional program in New York City. There, he trained for many years in dance but also found his calling and love for acting. James stars in the 2017 SXSW anticipated thriller, The Strange Ones. Written and Directed by Lauren Wolkstein and Christopher Radcliffe, The Strange Ones tells the story of two brothers, Sam [Freedson-Jackson] and Nick [Alex Pettyfer], who make their way across a remote American landscape. On the surface it all seems normal but after a series of mysterious events, what appears to be an average vacation soon gives way to dark and complex truths. In 2015 he made his Sundance film debut in Jon Watts' crime thriller Cop Car, co-starring with Kevin Bacon.
