James Franco Shoots New Drama ZEROVILLE at Venice Film Festival

James Franco is known as 'the hardest working man in Hollywood' for a reason; he never stops moving. This Friday, Franco creatively used the Venice Film Festival as a set for his most recent project, a film called 'Zeroville' based on Steve Erickson's novel.

Set in 1969, 'Zeroville' centers around a young man who dreams of making it in Hollywood, right around the time independent directors began to trump the previous studio world. Killing two birds with one stone, Franco both shot a scene for the film in which his character, Ike Jerome, accepted an award at a ceremony, and also took home an actual award for himself; the 2014 Glory to the Filmmaker Award.

The crew shot several takes for the film before Franco was called onstage to accept his real honor. The presenter then showered Franco in praise for "his creative versatility which pushes him to seamlessly be at the same time an actor, theatre and film director, screenwriter, producer, video-artist, soap opera star, and much more."

The multi-talented artist greeted fans on the red carpet spoting a newly shaved head, displaying a tribute tattoo to the classic 'A Place in the Sun' featuring Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift.
