A new episode of IN AMERICA, hosted by James Earl Jones, will focus on cancer treatment throughout the nation. From the doctors and the medicines they use to the patients who are the face of the disease, "In America" will seek to educate viewers about all aspects of the cancer experience.
According to the American Cancer Society, there are over 14 million people in America who have been diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. Early detection of any cancer is key to increasing the long term survival rate. Fortunately, the most prevalent cancers are often discovered through routine exams. For men, 43% of cancers involve the prostate gland and 41% of women diagnosed with cancer have breast cancer. Each day as new patients are screened and diagnosed, physicians and researchers are developing and using new, cutting edge treatments.
"In America" is an independent production that is distributed to Public Television Stations across the nation for airing at their discretion. It is not a production of APT or PBS, and is not affiliated with those organizations.
