Comedian and podcaster Marc Maron has delved deeply into his inner psyche on his popular WTF podcast, but have you ever wondered what would happen if he was transported into space? Well, comedian James Adomian has, and he is sharing his hilarious vision and uncanny impersonation with IFC.
Produced by Funny or Die, IFC's new five-part webseries,
Maron In Space, stars James Adomian playing Marc
Maron as the captain of the Starship Maroner. Captain
Maron commands his crew (and cats) through space while mapping uncharted planets and coming under attack from enemy ship, "The Hive." The last webisode builds to the ultimate
Face Off with his evil counterpart, played by a mystery guest who fans of WTF will want to see.
"Marc
Maron has such a hilariously comedic voice that I figured if I was going to do an impression of him, the only way to really get inside his head was to put him in outer space" said Adomian.
All five webisodes of
Maron In Space are available now on IFC.com at
http://www.ifc.com/shows/maron/maron-in-space. The webseries is created and written by Adomian and comedian John Roy and directed by Chris VanArtsdalen and Jefferson Dutton, two of
The Players in the comedy group, The Birthday Boys, whose own sketch series will premiere on
IFC later this year.
The launch of
Maron In Space leads up to the debut of new scripted comedy series
Maron on Friday, May 3 at 10:00pm ET/PT. Based on Marc's life and successful WTF podcast (
www.wtfpod.com), each half hour episode chronicles Marc's day-to-day struggle to maintain relationships other than the ones with his podcast audience and his beloved trio of cats. Marc stars as himself, and joining him is
Judd Hirsch (Ordinary People, Damages, This Must Be the Place) as his father, Nora Zehetner (Mad Men, Grey's Anatomy) as his girlfriend, Andy Kindler (Bob's Burgers, Everybody Loves Raymond) as his loyal friend and Josh Brener (The Internship, Silicon Valley) as Marc's assistant.
Notable guest stars who will be appearing throughout the season include
Mark Duplass (Your Sister's Sister, Safety Not Guaranteed),
Illeana Douglas (Entourage, Ghost World), Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall, NewsRadio),
Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development),
Gina Gershon (Killer Joe, How to Make It in America, Rescue Me), Bobcat Goldthwait (
Jimmy Kimmel, Chappelle's Show, Esquire Magazine's Director Of the Year),

Denis Leary (Rescue Me, The Job),
Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, Safety Not Guaranteed),
Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation, Party Down),
