JJ Abrams STAR TREK Sequel Begins Filming

Paramount Pictures has just announced that principal photography is now underway in Los Angeles for the currently untitled JJ Abrams upcoming STAR TREK sequel. The film will be a follow-up to Abram's 2009 Star Trek feature film which chronicled the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members.

Stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood are all set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel. They will be joined by newcomers Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Noel Clarke, Peter Weller and Nazneen Contractor. According to reports, Cumberbatch will be portraying the villain in the upcoming film.

The Star Trek sequel is set for release on May 17, 2013.
