JACK IN A BOX Wins BEST WEB SERIES at NYTVF 9/26

Michael Cyril Creighton'S online sitcom about a down on his luck theatre Box Office Manager, "JACK IN A BOX" was awarded Best Web Series at the Sixth Annual New York Television Festival. The awards ceremony took place on September 26, 2010 at the SVA Theatre. The 20 minute excerpt of the series that was chosen as an Official Selection of the festival included appearances by Beth Cole (Jack Goes Boating, LAByrinth Theatre Company Member), Marylouise Burke (Fuddy Meers, Is He Dead?, HBO's "Hung", Series 7: The Contenders, Sideways), and Lusia Strus (Enron, The NY Neo-Futurists, Gus Van Sant's Restless).

Launched in July 2009, Creighton's series has built an impressive fan base of theatre fans, professionals and box office workers around the country. Within a little more than a year, Creighton has written and produced 16 episodes of the series, which recently ended its second season. Completely self produced and co-created by Creighton with film maker Marcie Hume, "Jack in a Box" is now co-produced and co-directed by Director of Photography Jim Turner. Season Three is currently in pre-production.

In addition to Burke, Cole and Strus, guest stars on the series have included theatre favorites Nat DeWolf (Take Me Out, Betty's Summer Vacation), Alison Fraser (The Divine Sister, Gypsy, The Secret Garden, Romance/Romance), Randy Harrison (Wicked, Queer As Folk), Patrick Heusinger (Spamalot, Next Fall, "Gossip Girl", "30 Rock"), Jackie Hoffman (Xanadu, Hairspray, The Addams Family and "30 Rock") and Mary Testa (Xanadu, Guys and Dolls, On The Town).

The series has also featured internet favorites Hannah Bos ( Founding Member of The Debate Society, The Mimi & Flo Show), Ann Carr (The Actress), Livia Scott (Live & Let Livia) and Thom Woodley (The Temp Life, The Burg, All's Faire, The All-For-Nots and Greg & Donny), among others.

Michael Cyril Creighton (writer/creator/director/"Jack") was most recently seen in The Debate Society's acclaimed BUDDY COP 2 at The Ontological-Hysteric Theater. He was nominated for a 2010 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role for his work in MilkMilkLeomande, which will return this November to the Astoria Performing Arts Center. Regionally he as seen in George Street Playhouse's production of Lend Me A Tenor. He was a founding member of The NY Neo-Futurists and is a frequent guest artist with The Debate Society. MCC is formerly of VH1's Best Night Ever video podcast and has been seen on the web in episodes of "The Burg"and "The Mimi & Flo Show". He will be a guest on an upcoming episode of "Jeffery & Cole Casserole." He is a proud member of AEA and WGA-E.

Marcie Hume (Director of Photography/Editor/Co-Creator) works in documentary television in London, England, developing and producing programs for networks such as BBC, Channel 4, and National Geographic. The documentary film Hood To Coast, which she produced and co-directed, will be released in 2011.

Jim Turner (Director of Photography/Editor/Co-Producer) moved from Missouri to New York City to pursue his love of filmmaking. He is quickly becoming the go-to-guy for musicians, comedians and writers looking for high quality shooting and editing with a laid back attitude. His work includes collaborations with artists Hisao Ihara, Michael Lee Nirenberg, and Sue deBeer, music videos for Adira Amram, Ninja Sex Party and Jon Steinmeier, as well as an assortment of web videos and web-series.
The New York Television Festival The NYTVF was founded in 2005 as the industry's first recognized independent television festival, providing a platform to elevate the work of artists creating for the small screen.
