The new season of
A CRIME TO REMEMBER plays out like a dramatic period thriller, stepping into the past to unravel the intricacies of real-life murder cases that sent shockwaves through the nation. To properly illustrate each time period, the series stays true to fashions and styles while highlighting the cultural taboos and social norms that informed each case. Representing the era with authenticity and flair, the series' feature film style cinematography has earned the network News & Documentary Emmy wins in 2013 and 2014 for its artful execution in the craft category in Outstanding Lighting & Scenic Design.
Showcasing the jaw-dropping crimes of our past, each hour-long episode of
A CRIME TO REMEMBER is driven by the narrative of a fictional bystander who "knew" the victim. Reporters and police officers who lived through the actual case also explain the impact of the crime, and how justice was found in a world when killers were caught with little more than a finger print duster and a Rolodex.
In the premiere episode, titled Teenage Wasteland, the quaint town of Lincoln, Nebraska is turned upside when the body of a service station attendant is found lying in the open road. Murder is rare in the Heartland, and the crime leaves the community stunned. But the terror doesn't stop there - shortly after, a young family is found dead in their home and their teenage daughter is missing. Police suspect two love-struck, sex-crazed teens are behind the rampage, and everyone from local farmers to the National Guard takes up arms to find them before they strike again.
