When choreographer Heidi Duckler premieres the first episode of her four-part Dance Telenovela in Los Angeles next week, her core company dancers will be in great musical hands. Violinist Lili Haydn and pianist Bill Goldstein will join Duckler's dancers for an improvised collaboration. The virtuoso duo recently released a completely improvised album.
In addition to her four critically acclaimed solo albums, Haydn can be heard on the scores of several Hans Zimmer produced film scores. Haydn has opened for, or performed with, Roger Waters, Herbie Hancock, Cyndi Lauper, Sting, Josh Groban, the LA Philharmonic and Seal, among others. In 2009 the Sundance Film Institute selected Haydn for a Film Composing Fellowship.
Goldstein is known among TV, film, theatre and music audiences alike, having earned Emmy nods for his scoring of several television shows, a Best Producer Grammy nomination for the Guys and Dolls soundtrack and scoring countless films. In addition to releasing albums of his compositions, Goldstein is a noted Motown artist and has over 50 albums on iTunes.
Haydn and Goldstein will provide an "instant composition," created in real time in response to the movements of the dancers, simultaneously influencing their performance.
