IFC announced today that the comedy network has renewed its popular series COMEDY BANG! BANG! for a fifth season. Hosted by comedian and podcaster Scott Aukerman, the series will continue on IFC for a fresh batch of 20, half-hour episodes in 2016.

"Scott has created an absurd world that attracts the biggest names in pop culture," said Jennifer Caserta, IFC's president. "They show up, do insane things and oftentimes come back for more. We have no idea how he does it, but we're not about to start asking questions now."

Added Scott Aukerman, "I'm all out of funny quotes. Instead, enjoy this picture of a dog with sunglasses on its butt."

Comedy Bang! Bang! is far from your average talk-show, it's a kid's show for adults, as if Fernwood Tonight met Pee-wee's Playhouse, with ringleader Scott Aukerman at the center of it all. Each week he welcomes major players from the worlds of comedy, TV, movies, music and sports to his couch for lively banter and over-the-top sketches, including talking taxidermy, a couch with attitude, ANIMAL impersonations, and pop culture mayhem.

The show's current fourth season, airing Friday nights at 11 pm ET, has featured stars Ty Burrell, Mark Duplass, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Zach Galifianakis, former NFLer Eddie George, Simon Helberg, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Schoolboy Q, Jack Antonoff, Twin Shadow and Tears for Fears. Others that have appeared on the show throughout its four-season run include Jon Hamm, Fred Armisen, Amy Poehler, Jack Black, Jessica Alba, Anna Kendrick, Future Islands and 'Weird Al' Yankovic.

The series is produced for IFC by Abso Lutely Productions; Scott Aukerman and Dave Kneebone serve as executive producers.

The complete first two seasons as well as the first half of season three are currently available for instant streaming on Netflix.
