IFC Crossroads House to Host Live Comedy Showcases at SXSW

The IFC Crossroads House returns to SXSW as an official SXSW comedy venue open to all festival-goers March 9-14. Located inside the historic VICE Bar in the heart of downtown Austin on 6th Street and SAN JACINTO, the IFC Crossroads House will feature live comedy events, exclusive happy hours and a variety of music showcases.

Many of IFC's notable faces will be attending SXSW including Fred Armisen, Scott Aukerman, Chris Gethard, Marc Maron, Ryan Quincy and Reggie Watts.

IFC will also have a presence "slightly off" 6th Street with its on-air and online coverage hosted by IFC's Adopt-A-Comic, Chris Gethard. Chris will fulfill his hosting duties while living in an airstream trailer five minutes from the festival. He is inviting celebrity guests to hang out in the backyard of his trailer home and take part in fun, personalized and offbeat activities while having some heart-felt conversations. Coverage will premiere on IFC throughout the week and online at IFC.com/SXSW.

Animation Evolution: Bringing Story To Life
A basic foundation of animation is story, but in an industry where the technology is constantly evolving, how are animation professionals bringing characters and story worlds to life? Join the discussion with those working across a myriad of styles and genres as they discuss the development of story and the process behind bringing it to life on the screen. Panelists include Ryan Quincy from IFC's new animated series Out There, Saschka Unseld (The Blue Umbrella), Darcy Prendergast (Oh Yeah Wow); moderated by John Bernstein (Walt Disney Studios).

Transitioning Alternative Comedy to TV
IFC creates and champions authentic, original comedies that are "Always On. Slightly Off." including the hit series Portlandia, fan favorite Comedy Bang! Bang! and upcoming new original series Maron. The network is also developing a scripted comedy with Chris Gethard based on his book A Bad Idea I'm About To Do. This panel of alternative comedians, Fred Armisen, Scott Aukerman, Marc Maron and moderator Chris Gethard will explore the creative process, personal experiences and successes of taking their comedy to television.

Hailing from Denver, Colorado where he comprises 1/3 of popular comedy troupe and web series darlings The Grawlix, Adam Cayton-Holland is presenting a standup showcase with some of his funniest friends.

8:30pm: IFC presents Comedy Bang! Bang! Standup Showcase
IFC's Comedy Bang! Bang! hosts an all-star showcase with Scott Aukerman, Reggie Watts and friends, promising a night of offbeat and amazing comedy with possibly a preview of the show's upcoming second season returning to IFC this summer.

10:30pm: SXSW Comedy Opening Party, presented by IFC & JASH
This opening night celebration kicks off SXSW Comedy 2013. Featuring new Youtube channel, JASH's standup showcase with Sarah Silverman and Reggie Watts with a party to follow.

6:30pm: Two Man Movie
In this completely improvised live show, Neil Casey (Saturday Night Live) and Anthony Atamanuik (30 Rock) perform a never-before-seen movie.

8:30pm: IFC presents Maron
Comedian and podcaster Marc Maron hosts a first look peek of his new IFC scripted comedy series titled Maron. Joining him to discuss the series are executive producers Duncan Birmingham and Luke Matheny. Maron premieres on IFC in May.

10:30pm: Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell Writer's Show
W. Kamau Bell (Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell) is bringing a few of his friends to SXSW for a night of serious (and not so serious) fun. Those friends include Kevin Avery, Guy Branum, Janine Brito, DWayne Kennedy, Kari Kondabolu and Aprane Nancherla.

Sketch comedy duo Max & Ivan appear as history's greatest detectives tackling Chicago's murky underworld in this prohibition-era tale of revenge, whiskey and javelins.

10:30pm: Conspiracy Theory Live with Jesse Ventura
The former Governor and wrestling legend (as played by James Adomian) has assembled a team of investigative experts to help unravel the biggest conspiracy yet.

Improv comic Nick Turner (Best Week Ever) brings together some of his most talented acquaintances.

8:30pm: Upright Citizens Brigade presents Stranger Than Fiction
Anything can happen when Anthony Atamanuik, Chris Gethard and Jon Gabrus present the strangest, most terrifying, hilarious nights of their life. Stories too crazy not to be true!

10:30pm: The Chris Gethard Show
IFC's Adopt-A-Comic Chris Gethard brings his public access variety show to Austin, which he proudly bills as "the most bizarre and often saddest talk show." Expect an army of characters, stunts, video sketches, hilarious call-in topics, musical acts and unpredictable adventure.

Join us for the SXSW Green Music Stage Presented by Brita(R) with music by eco-conscious artists - rock band Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and singer-songwriter Ben Sollee. 5:00pm - 7:00pm: LegalZoom Happy Hour
Following the SXSW panel "Infamous Band Disputes and How to Avoid Them," presented by LegalZoom at the Austin Convention Center, head to the IFC Crossroads House for the LegalZoom Happy Hour. DJ Car Stereo Wars will be spinning your favorite tunes while entertainment attorney and musician Joe Escalante from The Vandals dishes out free entertainment business advice. Each attendee will receive a token for one free beer at the IFC Crossroads House.

7:15pm: Doors Open

8:00pm - 2:00am: Red Ryder Music Showcase
Chicago-based booking agency Red Ryder brings indie bands Pageants, Radiation City, Royal Canoe, On and On, Highasakite and headliner Matthew E. White to the IFC Crossroads House.
