ID To Air Updated Special Regarding Capture of Suspected Golden State Killer Today, Today Image

With the person believed to be the Golden State Killer in custody, New York prosecutor Anna-Sigga Nicolazzi and host of Investigation Discovery's series TRUE CONVICTION is available to discuss what happens next from a legal perspective, and investigative journalist Diane Dimond is available to discuss details of the capture and the Golden State Killer's history.

After an early morning arrest in Sacramento today, has one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history finally been captured? The Golden State Killer is a violent predator who has terrorized Californians for more than 40 years, attacking and killing innocent people at home as they slept. His victims shared little in common, and his deadly escapades haunted the Golden State for nearly a decade. Investigators believe the Golden State Killer is responsible for 12 killings and more than 45 assaults in California spanning from 1978 to 1986.

In an updated episode, GOLDEN STATE KILLER CAUGHT: PEOPLE MAGAZINE INVESTIGATES, PEOPLE's editor-in-chief Jess Cagle and senior writer Christine Pelisek delve into the iconic Golden State Killer case. Interviews with victims tell the story of the Golden State Killer's evolution of evil, including: rape SURVIVOR Jane Carson-Sandler who was raped in 1976 with her 3-year-old son in the next room; Margaret Wardlow who was raped just a year later at the age of 12-years-old; Debbie Domingo, whose mother was murdered in 1981; and Michelle Cruz, sister of victim Janell Cruz who was raped and murdered in 1986.
