Electric Entertainment has acquired all media rights for the U.S. and Canada for the self-aware horror comedy FEAR, INC., it was announced today by Dean Devlin, President and CEO of the company. The film, which was a hit with audiences when it world premiered in the Midnight Section at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, is set for a digital release across all VOD platforms on October 21st.
The deal was brokered by Electric Entertainment's Head of Domestic Distribution, Zac Reeder and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Gonzalez and by CAA and Amasia Entertainment on behalf of the filmmakers. "This is a fun film that horror audiences will be drawn to this Halloween season. Vincent Masciale and Luke Barnett have delivered an over-the-top feast for genre fans who like their scares to come with a large dose of comedy," said Devlin.
In the film, a horror junkie (Neff) and his friends hire a company that brings their customer's greatest fears to life.
FEAR, INC. stars Lucas Neff, Caitlin Stasey, Chris Marquette, Stephanie Drake, Abigail Breslin and Mark Moses.
The film was directed by Vincent Masciale and written by Luke Barnett, and was produced by Barnett and Masciale for Lone Suspect, and by Natalie Rose Masciale and Heather Kasprzak. Executive producing is Bradley Gallo, Michael Helfant, Tanner Thomasan, Giles Daoust, John Suits, Gabriel Cowan, Maxxe Sternbaum, Zack Imbrogno and Frank Masciale.
FEAR, INC. will be the second film released by Electric Entertainment's newly created domestic distribution division. Tribeca Film Festival favorite THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, staring Jason Sudeikis, Jessica Biel and Maisie Williams, was acquired by the division earlier this year and will be the next film to be released domestically. Its first release, BLACKWAY, starring Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles and Ray Liotta was released in theaters in the U.S and Canada as well as on VOD on June 10th.
Electric is also currently selling international rights to Brad Silberling's thriller AN ORDINARY MAN, which stars Ben Kingsley. Electric's sales division is also selling the critically acclaimed "Mercy Street," a PBS drama series which premiered in January and is executive produced by Ridley Scott, and the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival favorite THE WANNABE, which is executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Dean Devlin and Traction Media and stars Academy Award® winner Patricia Arquette, Vincent Piazza and Michael Imperioli, which was just released theatrically by eOne in December.
