The wait is over. Pawn Stars and American Pickers are back! The two phenomenally popular series, key components in establishing HISTORY as television's #1 non-fiction entertainment network, return with all-new episodes beginning Monday, November 28.
The Harrison family, whose Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas has gained worldwide fame in Pawn Stars, and Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, the antique archeologists of American Pickers, have only begun to scratch the surface when it comes to spotting offbeat, valuable and historically significant treasures - which they buy and then sell for profits. The new season of weekly premieres, running into 2012, will continue to cement their reputations not just as masters in their trade, but also as charismatic stars unlike any other on the TV landscape today.
The return episode of American Pickers - chronicling Mike and Frank's unending search for "rusty gold" - airs on Monday, November 28 at 9pm ET. Pawn Stars - showcasing three generations of savvy buyers and sellers: Richard Harrison (aka Old Man), son Rick, grandson Corey, along with Corey's childhood sidekick, Chumlee - follows with two new episodes premiering at 10 and 10:30 pm ET.
American Pickers opens with a truly historic find: a 65-million-year-old dinosaur bone found in Mississippi. Purchased for a mere $450, the bone is priceless, according to the paleontology museum curator who appraises it. In subsequent episodes, the duo will "pick" a speedy cycle car, crafted from the wing tank of a WWII-era plane; the work of iconic painter Norman Rockwell; a 350-pound taxidermy African elephant head, which they ultimately swap in exchange for a vintage photo booth and jukebox; and two coin-operated "peek-a-boo" strip poker machines from the 1950's. As Mike and Frank demonstrate, no two treasures, no two adventures and no two episodes are alike.
The return episodes of Pawn Stars, meanwhile, find the Harrison's dealing with a wide array of historic relics, from a Cold War-era Soviet fighter jet, to a 2004 Super Bowl championship ring that belonged to a New England Patriot, to a bat and glove signed by baseball legend Babe Ruth, to a set of never-published photos of Jimi Hendrix, snapped by the rock god's personal photographer. Subsequent episodes shine a spotlight on treasures that span decades: the diaries of a Civil War soldier; a WWII-era B-17 bomber; the torch from Opening Ceremonies of the 1984 Olympics; Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly high-top Nikes from the movie Back to the Future; and more. Whether it will wind up in a celebrated history museum or on display amongst pop-culture collectibles, every item has a fascinating story.
