HISTORY® is renewing its hit series "Alone" for a second season, it was announced today by Paul Cabana, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, HISTORY. Season one of "Alone" is averaging 2.5 million Total Viewers, 1.2 million Adults 25-54 and 936,000 Adults 18-49, after nine weeks in Live +3 delivery, becoming the #3 new nonfiction series on cable in 2015. The season finale premieres Thursday, August 20 at 10 p.m. on HISTORY and $500,000 will be awarded to the person who survives the longest in complete isolation in the harsh wilderness.
"'Alone' is a groundbreaking series that has truly connected with audiences," said Cabana. "In today's crowded landscape, it is incredibly rewarding to see a new series break through the clutter and grow week after week."
Production on season two is slated to begin this fall in Vancouver Island.
"Alone" places ten hardcore survivalists isolated in the Vancouver Island wilderness - no camera crew, no teams, no producers - on a single mission to stay alive. Carrying only what they can fit in a backpack, the survivalists are completely separated from one another in harsh, unforgiving terrain to hunt, build shelters and fend off predators. They face extreme isolation and psychological distress as they plunge into the unknown, self-documenting their experience. "Alone" is the ultimate test of man's will to survive.
"Alone" is produced for HISTORY by Leftfield Pictures. Russ McCarroll and Zachary Behr serve as executive producers for HISTORY. Brent Montgomery, David George, Shawn Witt and Gretchen Palek serve as executive producers for Leftfield Pictures.
